There are fewer women running big companies than there are men named John. Gender equality is one of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Even the Netherlands doesn’t have equal opportunities for both genders; it scores low on the gender wage gap, for women board members, and for gender biases.

That’s why we have organised the Business Leadership for Gender Equality Workshop
Everyone should be encouraging gender-balance in their own environments, and advocating for women empowerment.

In the workshop we will:

  • Think critically about attitudes to and beliefs about gender
  • Explore the concepts of unconscious bias and gender-balanced leadership
  • Advance the development of SDG 5: Gender Equality
  • Support and continue the debate after the workshop.

17:00-21:00
Thursday 11 April
Bayle JB-49 at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University
Registration is required and includes a light dinner
Costs: €3,- for STAR-members and €5,- for non-STAR members.

What will your role be?
You can expect to learn how to address systemic and unconscious bias by learning more about gender-balanced leadership. What will be your role in changing the world in which equal opportunity is the standard? You need to bring your self-awareness, your willingness to try out new behaviour, and your flexibility. It’s your opportunity to change – along with your environment!

The workshop will be led by Dr Joana Vassiliopoulou, Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in HRM at Brunel Business School, Brunel University in London. Her research focuses on
gender and race equality at work, diversity management and talent management. Organisers: RSM’s Positive Change Initiative, study association STAR and the Erasmus
Centre for Women in Organisations (ECWO).
