Marcello Palazzi, BSc MSc MBA is an economist, entrepreneur and philanthropreneur for human progress. For 35 years, he has focused on better enterprises, better entrepreneurs, better economies as the vehicles for progress. Working in his family business since his 20s, Marcello co-founded Progressio Foundation in Rotterdam at the Erasmus University exactly 30 years ago, and has since led it to complete over 300 projects, ventures, events involving thousands of progressive change-makers in 30 countries. Marcello is also Global Ambassador for the B Corp Movement of 10,000 Certified B Corps and Benefit Corporations in 70 countries, as well as chairman of SIX, the worldwide social innovation exchange and sits on other boards. Marcello has studied at LSE, LBS, and Erasmus University, and has been a Fellow at Harvard (2013) and Stanford (2015). During these last two periods, he focused on building the movement of B Corps that are leading the world towards the reinvention of business pursuing ‘impact + profit’, not profit maximisation alone at the expense of people and planet. Entrepreneurship and Economics were always meant to be for the public good since the Greeks defined ‘oikonomia’ and Marcello’s mission is to ensure this becomes the dominant paradigm.
