Bernard Gouw

Senior Manager Social Standards - B-Lab

Bernard (he/him) spends his time thinking about how businesses affect people – the good and the bad. He’s had many jobs, but the common thread is labor and human rights. In his current role as Senior Manager Social Standards at B Lab, Bernard is responsible for determining what it means for companies to “be a force for good” when it comes to people. Specifically, he does this for the B Corp certification, originally from the US and fast-growing in Europe and the Netherland, with companies such as Tony’s Chocolonely, Fairphone, Ace & Tate and Dopper all certified B Corps.

Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, JEDI (as it’s called within B Lab), is core to Bernard and B Lab’s perspective on how businesses should operate. Currently, as part of the B Corp standards revision, Bernard is determining what will be expected on JEDI of the 5,000 and growing B Corps around the world.
